Rural Contractor
Waikato
A Waikato rural contractor lost 8,000 litres of diesel over Christmas. We installed 3 license plate cameras and 5 surveillance cameras for them to secure their entrances, track all vehicles coming and going and deter unwanted visitors. The main entrance has an integrated barrier arm with vehicle plate reads for automated entry. They used Farmgate because we could offer high quality license plate cameras with visibility and control via our mobile APP and a whole solution that used 4G connectivity and solar power (as there was no power or internet on site).
Dairy & Beef Farmer
Waikato
A Waikato dry stock and beef farmer was losing high value Angus Beef stock and having trouble with neighbours and boy racers on their dead-end road. We installed a license plate camera to view up their road with stolen vehicle notifications and other cameras around their property using 4G so they had visibility on key areas of the property. Video footage has been used by the Police to help bring about an arrest and multiple restraining orders.
Rural Community
Hawkes Bay
A Hawkes Bay community was having trouble with looting and increased crime following Cyclone Gabrille. Farmgate installed 5 license plate recognition cameras at key locations around the community to track all incoming and outgoing vehicles (all ways in and out are covered). Camera footage is regularly requested by the Police and has been used to identify and impound some boy racer vehicles following a late night gathering and 'loss of traction'. A reduction in crime has also been noted.

Note though that Farmgate instals all LPR solutions as this is a specialty role.
Barrier Arms & Gates
Farmgate offers costs effective barrier arms and gates with remotes. Our Farmgate barrier arms come with remotes as standard, ready to install.
Our gates are supplied by a local gate supplier who can ship all over the country. They come standard with motor, remotes and key pads.
Upgrade with gate calling, loop detectors or solar power if required. All part of securing the front entrance.
Community LPR Cameras
Farmgate's premium solution for rural communities is a license plate cameras at key location in a community, on dead-end or loop roads enabling whole communities to be mapped out. Get alerts of new or unknown vehicles or provide the police with leads if an event should occur. This is the first line of defense for rural communities. The story of Farmgate couldn’t be more New Zealand. One day, while visiting a farmer for work, a good friend of ours heard the story about how this stressed-out farmer watched his four wheel motorbike being driven down a race on his farm. Assuming it was his wife, he thought nothing of it until he later realized the farm bike he relied on for work all day long had been stolen in broad daylight.
As a result, in late 2021 Andrew Sing and business partners embarked on the task of reducing rural crime initially through its FarmARMr system that integrated barrier arms for physical deterrents at the farm gate with license plate cameras and barrier arms. This lead to being part of the 2021 Fieldays innovation awards. In the aftermath of Cyclone Gabrielle, Farmgate gifted surveillance and license plate recognition cameras into a local Hawkes Bay community to combat rising looting and crime. This was the perhaps the true beginnings of Farmgate and has now lead to the whole neighbouring community being mapped out with license plate cameras for vehicle tracking and crime prevention.
The team soon realized that combatting the rise of rural crime required a collective effort by farmers, rural people and whole communities. And so the vision to reduce rural crime widened to what is now called the Rural Crime Reduction Strategy using the latest tech, license plate cameras, community participation and saturation of roads and communities with deterrents. What once cost thousands of dollars for equipment, aerials, cabling and installation can be done DIY for a fraction of the price. This combined with the ability to install anywhere has now become the hallmark of Farmgate's unique approach to rural security solutions. We operate from Hamilton with a tech base in South Auckland servicing the greater Waikato, Hauraki, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki, Hawkes Bay and South Auckland regions.
